Boophilus microplus (cattle tick) dorsal view. This one host hard tick has short palps and hypostome, eyes are present but no festoons or anal groove in the female. The legs are short and pale. Engorged females up to 12 mm long. The larvae can attack man but they do not establish. Important vector of diseases of cattle as well as causing severe damage to cattle themselves.
